Mateo Clark

Vancouver Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy midfielder Mateo Clark has been called up by the Nicaragua U-17 national team.

Clark will attend a training camp from January 17 to 20 in Managua, Nicaragua. The camp comes ahead of the Concacaf U-17 Championship tournament in Guatemala from February 11 to 26. The top four teams will qualify for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.

"This is a great opportunity for Mateo to represent Nicaragua at the U-17 level," said Dante Marconato, Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy U-16 head coach. "This will not only provide him with exposure to international football, but it is also a chance for him to showcase his exciting qualities in a different context. We look forward to seeing him embrace this challenge against some of the top youth players in CONCACAF."

The midfielder originally hailing from Houston, Texas joined the Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy in 2021 from Houston Dynamo FC Academy.
