NASHVILLE, TN – Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-15 MLS Academy advanced to the Round of 16 of the MLS NEXT playoffs with a shootout win over Players Development Academy on Saturday after a 0-0 draw through regulation.
It was a match of two good sides, with each having chances.
PDA hit the crossbar early on, but the 'Caps came out strong with a number of good chances in the second half, only for the PDA goalkeeper to come up with no less than three huge saves.
Not to be outdone, Whitecaps FC goalkeeper Sam Rogers kept the 'Caps in it with a penalty kick save in the second half.
In the shootout, the 'Caps kept their composure and scored on every shot, while Rogers came up big again with a shootout save.
The U-15s will now play the hometown Nashville SC on Monday, June 17 at 7:30 a.m. PT / 9:30 a.m. local time.
