WEEKLY STORYLINES

RECORD-BREAKING '25: Head coach Jesper Sørensen’s remarkable debut season continues to deliver historic results for Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The team has clinched a third consecutive MLS Cup Playoffs berth for the first time in club history, marking their fourth appearance in the past five years. Following Tuesday’s TELUS Canadian Championship semifinal win, the ‘Caps remain in the driver’s seat to lift a fourth straight Voyageurs Cup. Last Saturday’s dominant victory over the Philadelphia Union also moved Vancouver to sixth place in the Supporters’ Shield standings. With a record of 15W-6L-7D for 52 points, the ‘Caps are just five points off the top spot and hold two games in hand over every team above them. They are also only one point shy of matching their all-time best regular season total of 53 points, set in 2015. In addition, Vancouver needs just one more win to equal their highest-ever MLS regular season win total of 16, also achieved in 2015, and one more home victory would match their best home mark of 10, previously reached in both 2021 and 2022. The team is also just one goal away from tying their single-season scoring record of 55 goals scored, set in 2023, leads MLS with 12 clean sheets and holds the league’s best goal differential at +23.

GOALS GALORE: The Blue and White are on a scoring tear, racking up an incredible 14 goals from 10 different players over their last three matches across all competitions. Leading the charge is German legend Thomas Müller, who has tallied four goals and an assist during that span. Meanwhile, MLS breakout star Sebastian Berhalter has been the creative engine, contributing five assists and adding a goal of his own. Berhalter now sits at 18 goal contributions on the season (6 goals, 12 assists), trailing only Brian White, who leads the team with 21 (20 goals, 1 assist).

KINGS OF CASCADIA: The 'Caps are aiming to win a record eighth Cascadia Cup next week, with their first opportunity coming this Wednesday at home against rivals Portland Timbers. Boasting a perfect 2-0-0 record and +6 goal differential, the 'Caps can clinch the prestigious supporter-led trophy with a midweek victory. Vancouver's final Cascadia Cup fixture follows just three days later, on the road against Seattle Sounders FC.
