WEEKLY STORYLINES

ALL-STAR 'CAPS: A league-high four Vancouver Whitecaps FC players represented the club at the 2025 MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, as the All-Stars claimed a 3-1 victory over LIGA MX's All-Stars. Defender Tristan Blackmon and midfielder Sebastian Berhalter started the match, while goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka and forward Brian White came on as second half substitutes. White scored the All-Star's third goal, becoming the first Whitecaps FC player to score in an All-Star game. In addition to the game on Wednesday, Takaoka and Berhalter participated in the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge on Tuesday. It was the 'Caps goalkeeper who played hero, as his successful attempt in the crossbar challenge gave the All-Stars a walk-off victory against LIGA MX.

BACK HOME: The 'Caps wrapped up a five-game road stretch in MLS play last weekend with a tight 1-1 draw against Western Conference leaders San Diego FC and are now set to return home to BC Place for a meeting with Sporting Kansas City in the club's 12th annual Pride Celebration Match. During their travels, the team posted a 2W-2L-1D record to vault themselves to second in the West for a total of 42 points, just five points off of equaling their total from last season and 12 away from setting a club-record in the MLS era. The Blue and White will now look to make the most of the final months of the season, as they host seven of their remaining 11 matches at BC Place.

THE ROAD AHEAD: After Saturday's clash with Kansas City, the regular season will pause for it's Leagues Cup break, meaning the 'Caps will return to action on Saturday, August 9 for a visit to San Jose Earthquakes. In addition to their MLS campaign, Vancouver will also look forward to their quest for the four-peat in the TELUS Canadian Championship, as they face Canadian Premier League side Forge FC in the semifinals. The 'Caps will head to Hamilton, Ontario for the first leg on Wednesday, August 13, and will host the decisive second leg at BC Place on Tuesday, September 16. The victor of the semifinal will host the final. A fourth consecutive Voyageurs' Cup triumph would secure the 'Caps a place in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.
