VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC will be hoping to secure their spot in the 2025 TELUS Canadian Championship Final this Tuesday, September 16 as they host Canadian Premier League side Forge FC in the second leg of the semifinals at BC Place. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT.

WEEKLY STORYLINES

HISTORIC SEVEN: It was a night to remember at BC Place last weekend, as Vancouver Whitecaps FC erupted for a record-breaking 7-0 victory over Supporters' Shield leaders Philadelphia Union to punch their ticket to the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs, marking the earliest the club has ever clinched an MLS Cup Playoffs berth. The win was the first time the 'Caps scored seven goals in their MLS era and marked the club's largest margin of victory, while also equaling the MLS record. MLS Player of the Matchday recipient Thomas Müller recorded his sixth-career hat-trick and was one of six 'Caps members to be named to the MLS Team of the Matchday, joining Ali Ahmed, Sebastian Berhalter, Mathías Laborda, Emmanuel Sabbi, and head coach Jesper Sørensen. Recently-signed homegrown forward Rayan Elloumi was also named to the league's Young Players of the Matchday list after becoming the first 'Caps homegrown player to score on his home debut.

ROAD TO FOUR: Two more wins to go. The 'Caps will be looking to book their spot in the 2025 TELUS Canadian Championship final on Tuesday as they host Canadian Premier League side Forge FC in the second leg of the semifinals. The Blue and White drew 2-2 in the first leg last month in Hamilton, with goals from Tristan Blackmon and Brian White, but will be aiming to seal the deal with a win on Tuesday. Vancouver is aiming to make history as the first team to capture the Voyageurs Cup four straight years in the tournament’s modern era. A win would see the 'Caps host the final in October against the winner between Atlético Ottawa and Vancouver FC of Langley, with the latter currently holding a 3-1 advantage going into Thursday's second leg.

RECORD-BREAKING '25: Head coach Jesper Sørensen has continued his evolutionary first season with the club in stunning fashion, guiding the 'Caps to a third consecutive MLS Cup Playoffs berth for the first time in club history (fourth time in five years). Saturday's monsterous win over the Union vaulted the 'Caps up to sixth in the Supporters' Shield standings thanks to their 15-6L-7D record (52 points), with games in hand on several teams around them. The victory also marked the first time the 'Caps have ever scored four goals in a first half in an MLS match and has put them ever closer to surpassing more records as the regular season nears it's curtain call. With 52 points, the 'Caps are now only one point behind their best season total of 53 points set in 2015, they're also one win away from tying their best-ever MLS regular season win total from 2015 (16 wins), and are now one home win away from equalling their best-ever MLS regular season home win total from 2021 & 2022 (10 wins). Lastly, Vancouver is one goal away from tying their most goals scored in an MLS season with 55 from 2023, and now lead MLS with a +23 goal difference.
