WEEKLY STORYLINES
LEAGUES CUP 2026: Vancouver Whitecaps FC began Phase 1 play in Leagues Cup 2026 this week, narrowly falling 1-0 to Atlante FC on Tuesday. The 'Caps will be looking to bounce back on Friday as they face FC Juárez for the first time. This marks the third time Vancouver participates in the tournament, having reached the Round of 32 in their previous two appearances in 2023 and 2024. Following Friday's clash, the focus will shift towards the final group stage encounter against familiar foes Tigres UANL on Tuesday, August 11 at Estadio Universitario.
THE PLACE TO BE: Tuesday's match against Atlante began a key stretch of matches for the Blue and White across multiple competitions. Following Leagues Cup, the 'Caps will play four MLS matches in a span of two weeks before hosting the first leg of the TELUS Canadian Championship semifinals against CF Montreal on September 2 at BC Place. They will then play three consecutive MLS home matches against Western Conference oppostion. In fact, seven of Vancouver's next 10 matches will be played at BC Place, where they've posted a 24W-6L-7D record across all competitions under head coach Jesper Sørensen. In the process, the 'Caps have scored 91 goals, recorded a +54 goal differential, and kept 16 clean sheets.
