VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC begin their Climb to the Cup on Tuesday when they play Mexican side Atlante FC for the very first time at BC Place. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. PT.

• MATCHUP HISTORY:
  This will be the first ever meeting between Whitecaps FC and Atlante FC. Since 2023, the 'Caps have gone 1W-2L-3D against Mexican opposition in the Leagues Cup and Concacaf Champions Cup.

WEEKLY STORYLINES

LEAGUES CUP 2026: Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to begin their group stage play in Leagues Cup 2026 this week with two enticing matchups against LIGA MX opposition. This will be the third time Vancouver participates in the tournament, having reach the Round of 32 in their previous two appearances in 2023 and 2024. The Blue and White will open up Leagues Cup with a pair of home matches against Atlante FC on Tuesday, August 4 and against FC Juárez on Friday, August 7 - marking the first time the 'Caps have met either team. They will then hit the road for their final group stage encounter against familiar foes Tigres UANL on Tuesday, August 11 at Estadio Universitario.

THE PLACE TO BE: Tuesday's match against Atlante begins a key stretch of matches for the Blue and White across multiple competitions. Following Leagues Cup, the 'Caps will play four MLS matches in a span of two weeks before hosting the first leg of the TELUS Canadian Championship semifinals against CF Montreal on September 2 at BC Place. They will then play three consecutive MLS home matches against Western Conference oppostion. In fact, eight of Vancouver's next 11 matches will be played at BC Place, where they've posted a 24W-5L-7D record across all competitions under head coach Jesper Sørensen. In the process, the 'Caps have scored 91 goals, recorded a +55 goal differential, and kept 16 clean sheets.

WELCOME BACK: Over the past few weeks, the 'Caps have welcomed back a number of faces to the matchday roster. Ralph Priso and Emmanuel Sabbi both made their returns to the pitch this past weekend against LAFC after recovering from injury. The pair started all five of Vancouver's matches in the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs en route to MLS Cup. In addition, Sam Adekugbe played his first MLS match in 423 days on July 25 at Minnesota United FC, coming in as a second half substitute. With the busy stretch ahead, the 'Caps will need the full roster as they compete on multiple fronts in three competitions.
