SEATTLE, WA – Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency teams split their matches on the road Saturday at Cascadia rivals Seattle Sounders FC Academy.

The U-18s came away with a 2-0 victory over Seattle on goals from Gloire Amanda and returnee Patrick Izett. The win saw the ‘Caps go three points ahead of Seattle at the top of the Northwest Division.

Both teams came out intent on securing victory, but it was the Blue and White who broke the deadlock in the second half with Matthew Baldisimo crossing into the box and Amanda finishing it.

The score remained 1-0 until stoppage time when Izett broke in and fired a low strike past the goalkeeper to cement a 2-0 win.

Luck was not on the side of the ‘Caps U-16s against their rivals in a 2-0 defeat in Seattle.

The ‘Caps put in a very strong performance, but were denied a result on this day.

Seattle converted the lone goal of the first half off of a free kick. The ‘Caps were then denied by the crossbar in the second half before Seattle added a second.

Despite late pressure, the Northwest Division leading ‘Caps fell to only their third defeat of the season.

“A tough loss on the boys,” said U-16 head coach Adam Day after the match. “We were brilliant today, but we didn’t manage to get the goals we deserved. The work rate was fantastic, our attitude and desire just as good, and we had real moments of quality. We will look to respond next week in California.”
