Whitecaps FC sign WFC2 goalkeeper Max Anchor to second MLS short-term agreement

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Sunday that the club has signed Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) goalkeeper Max Anchor to a second MLS short-term agreement for tonight's MLS regular season away match against Portland Timbers at Providence Park.

Anchor, who turns 18 on July 21, becomes the second WFC2 player to receive two call-ups to the first team this season, following wingback Chris Lee's call-ups for matches against Minnesota United FC and FC Cincinnati. Anchor's previous call-up to the first team came back on May 22, as he made his professional debut against Charlotte FC.

In MLS NEXT Pro action, Anchor has made one start with WFC2 this season, making four saves in the side's 3-1 win over North Texas SC on June 17.

The Burnaby, BC product originally joined the Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy in 2017 as a 13-year-old from Mountain United FC of the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League.

At the international level, Anchor has represented Canada at the 2019 Concacaf U-15 Boys Championship, and in April was called into Canada's U-20 men's national team camp in Costa Rica.
