After sharing the honours with Cristian Techera in August, Erik Hurtado has been voted as the September Whitecaps FC Player of the Month, presented by Coldwell Banker. Hurtado earned 46 per cent of the votes in a poll conducted on Twitter, beating out midfielder Matias Laba (23 per cent) and centre backs Kendall Waston (17 per cent) and David Edgar (14 per cent).
The 25-year-old forward scored a team-high three goals in five appearances in all competitions during the month of September and added an assist in last weekend’s 3-3 draw with Colorado.

The Burnaby, BC native has had a positive start to the Development Academy season, scoring three goals in his first four games. His strong play while with the Residency program earned him a call-up to the recent Canada U-17 men’s national team camp in Panama.
“Alessandro has made a good start to the season, and was duly rewarded with his call up to the national team,” said Whitecaps FC U-16 Residency head coach Adam Day. “We've challenged him to be the leader in the group this season as he is a very technically gifted and tactically astute player. There's certainly room to grow but we are pleased with his performances thus far.”
