Academy Playoffs: U-19s open with 5-1 win over New England Revolution

OCEANSIDE, CA – Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-19 Residency opened the 2018 Academy Playoffs with a 5-1 victory against fellow MLS counterparts New England Revolution Academy on Monday.


Nicholas Fussell opened the scoring, Theo Bair recorded a hat-trick, and Jefferson Alade rounded things out. Thomas Hasal earned the win in net after making his return from a broken hand.


The 'Caps currently sit in first place in Group D after Pateadores and Crew SC Wolves Academy played to a 3-3 draw in the other group match of the day. Only the first place team from each four-team group will advance to the quarterfinals.


On Tuesday the U-17s play their first match as they face Barca Academy at 4 p.m. PT. The U-19s are then back in action on Wednesday vs. Crew SC Academy Wolves.
