VANCOUVER, BC – Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Sebastian Berhalter has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 12 following his performance in Vancouver Whitecaps FC's 1-1 draw at San Jose Earthquakes. The result extended Vancouver's best-ever start to an MLS regular season to 8W-1L-2D (26 points), with the 'Caps now unbeaten in six matches (4W-0L-2D).
Vancouver earned another hard-fought point in California, this time at PayPal Park. After falling behind early, the 'Caps once again seized control of the match and found their equalizer in the 76th minute.
Andrés Cubas won the ball at the top of the box and found Emmanuel Sabbi, who quickly spun and drew three San Jose defenders.  Before being taken down, Sabbi spotted Berhalter to his right. Berhlater struck the ball first-time with the outside of his boot, beating keeper Daniel to level the match.
With his goal, Berhalter now has four goals, matching his MLS total from last season, and 11 goal contributions in league play (4G, 7A). That mark is tied for the fourth-most in MLS, just two behind the league lead.
