WEEKLY STORYLINES

WESTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS: For the first time in their MLS era, Vancouver Whitecaps FC are Western Conference champions. The Blue and White claimed a memorable 3-1 road victory against expansion side San Diego FC last weekend to punch their ticket to MLS Cup. Brian White notched his third brace of the season, and his sixth with the 'Caps, while Ali Ahmed forced a San Diego own goal to hand Vancouver their first Western Conference trophy. With his brace, White continued his rise in the all-time goalscoring charts for the club. The fifth-year 'Caps forward now sits tied for second in goals alongside John Catliff with 79, meaning his next goal will see him sit outright second behind Domenic Mobilio's record of 170. In addition, Saturday's win saw the 'Caps improve their road record across all competitions this season to 10W-6L-10D, scoring a total of 41 goals on their travels.

EYES ON THE SUMMIT: It all comes down to this. A year of hard work on and off the pitch, all culminating with a chance to win the ultimate prize. The 'Caps will compete in their first-ever MLS Cup on Saturday, December 6 against Inter Miami CF at Chase Stadium in a rematch of the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals. Vancouver defeated the Herons 5-1 on aggregate, winning the first leg 2-0 at BC Place and claiming a memorable 3-1 win in Florida thanks to goals from Brian White, Pedro Vite, and Sebastian Berhalter. This will mark the 'Caps third final of the season, having competed in the Concacaf Champions Cup Final and winning the TELUS Canadian Championship Final. Vancouver is the first team in the modern era of MLS to reach every final of the club’s participating cup competitions in the same calendar year. They are also the third team in the league’s history to reach a continental final and MLS Cup in the same calendar year.

FINAL HISTORY: Whitecaps FC will be seeking a first MLS Cup title, and the eighth men’s league championship in club history, dating back to 1974. In the North American Soccer League (NASL) era, the ‘Caps famously won the Soccer Bowl in 1979. In the Canadian Soccer League (CSL), Vancouver 86ers won four consecutive MITA Cup titles from 1988-1991. Prior to entering MLS, the Blue and White captured the USL First Division title in both 2006 and 2008. Saturday will mark the 'Caps first appearance in a league championship final since the 2009 USL First Division final. Vancouver will also look to add to the trophy cabinet they've built, winning the TELUS Canadian Championship (2015, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025), the Western Conference Championship (2025), and the Cascadia Cup (2004, 2005, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2023, 2025).
