MATCHUP HISTORY: The 'Caps and Seattle are tied together as far back as possible for both clubs. As part of North American Soccer League’s Western Division, the two expansion franchises’ inaugural season was 1974. Sunday's match is the 159th meeting between the two sides in official competition. The ‘Caps all-time record against Seattle is 54W-76L-28D. Sunday will also mark the third meeting between the two sides across all competitions this season, having crossed paths in Concacaf Champions Cup action earlier this year.

CASCADIA CLINCHER: Vancouver Whitecaps FC return to MLS regular season action in a Cascadia edition of Sunday Night Soccer presented by Continental Tire against rivals Seattle Sounders FC. Thanks to their two wins against Portland this season, the ‘Caps could clinch a record-ninth Cascadia Cup on Sunday with either a win or a draw. The Blue and White, who are unbeaten in their previous four visits to Lumen Field (1W-0L-3D), have enjoyed past success with clinching Cascadia Cups in Seattle. The team won the 2008, 2013, 2014, and 2025 editions in their rival’s backyard.

BACK TO MLS: Starting with Sunday’s marquee showdown, the 'Caps will play four MLS matches in a span of two weeks before hosting the first leg of the TELUS Canadian Championship semifinals against CF Montreal on September 2 at BC Place. In fact, six of Vancouver's next eight matches will be played at BC Place, where they've posted a 24W-7L-7D record across all competitions under head coach Jesper Sørensen. In the process, the 'Caps have scored 92 goals, recorded a +52 goal differential, and kept 16 clean sheets.
