10 questions with Jordan Harvey

10 questions with Jordan Harvey

In last weekend’s win against New England Revolution, Jordan Harvey appeared in his 200th MLS regular season game. And this Saturday against Colorado Rapids (6 p.m. PT on TSN), he could make it 100 MLS regular season appearances with Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

The 31-year-old Californian is also a soon-to-be father. Clearly, there’s a lot going on in his life – and we dig deeper in the latest installment of our “10 questions” series.

1. If you weren’t a soccer player, what would you be?

I’d want to be, and I’m not anywhere near it, a professional surfer. Growing up, I surfed here and there but I always thought it’d be the ideal profession to travel around to all these exotic locations and surf for a living.

2. What’s the most embarrassing song on your iPod?

The obvious one would be something by Taylor Swift but I’m not that embarrassed about it because she’s an amazing songwriter. One Direction, I guess? I think they’re amazing too! I’m not embarrassed about these things.

3. What’s your guilty pleasure?

Eating licorice.

4. Do you have any superstitions?

Oh yeah. I sing the national anthem and up until last game I’m always the second to last walking out. I could probably go for days but those are the main ones.

5. If you were stuck on a deserted island, which one of your teammates would you bring?

Oh man. I would say Beita – for the conversations, we get along really well and come from similar backgrounds. But if I’m on a deserted island I’d probably want someone I could survive with, someone resourceful. With that said, I’d probably go Captain America, Tim Parker.

6. What’s the last book you read?

It might have been Moneyball – or the Hunger Games trilogy.

7. Who would play you in the film of your life?

Film of my life? Wow. Only because my wife loves him, I’ll say Tom Hardy.

8. When are you happiest?

Eating dinner after a win with my wife at Cactus Club on a sunny day – on the patio. I’ve had it a few times and it’s amazing.

9. What’s on your bucket list?

I’ve got a pretty large bucket list but the thing I want to do the most is probably see the pyramids in Egypt.

10. What’s your greatest accomplishment?

I’d say starting a family. It’s something that I’ve always wanted since I was super young. And it’s finally happening. It’s current and I think it’s the biggest thing in my life right now.
