VANCOUVER, BC – Western Conference leaders Vancouver Whitecaps FC (MLS 13W-5L-4D, 43 points) will aim to extend their lead at the summit this week as they wrap up their September homestand with a pair of matches at BC Place. The 'Caps will first set their eyes on a midweek battle with LA Galaxy (MLS 7W-9L-8D, 29 points) this Wednesday, September 9. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT, with public stadium gates opening at 6:30 p.m. PT.

MATCHUP HISTORY: Wednesday will mark the 40th all-time meeting between the 'Caps and the Galaxy. It is the second and final meeting of the regular season between the teams. Vancouver holds a 12W-17L-8D all-time record against the Galaxy, including a 8W-5L-4D home record.

WEEKLY STORYLINES

CONQUER THE GALAXY, TAME THE TEXANS: Vancouver Whitecaps FC will look to regain their rhythm this week as they finalize their four-match September homestand at BC Place with a pair of Western Conference matchups. First up, the Blue and White welcome LA Galaxy to town in a midweek meeting of MLS Cup finalists from the last two seasons. The 'Caps, who drew 1-1 in the first encounter of the season between the two sides in May, have claimed victory in three of their last four matches at BC Place against the Galaxy. Vancouver will then face Austin FC on Sunday, which also marks Thomas Müller's birthday, a year on from his famous hat trick performance against Philadelphia Union in a 7-0 win. The 'Caps hold a 6W-1L-3D record in MLS play over the Verde and Black.

INTO THE FALL: The 'Caps have already played two of their seven matches in September and by the end of the week, they'll have played two more. Their remaining three matches this month see Vancouver head east for the decisive second leg of the TELUS Canadian Championship semifinals against CF Montréal on September 16. As part of the same trip, the 'Caps will then fly back west for a visit to Real Salt Lake on September 19, before wrapping up the month with a home clash against D.C. United on September 26. With only 12 matches to go in the regular season, every point counts as the calendar starts to turn to fall and into the MLS Cup Playoffs.

TEAM BONDING: Similar to 2025, the 'Caps have been sharing the load in front of goal this season. Entering this week's action, 16 different players have found the back of the net across all competitions, while 18 different players have registered an assist. Leading the way in the goals department is Brian White (14), followed by Thomas Müller (8) and Emmanuel Sabbi (5). The trio were also Vancouver’s top three scorers last year, with White finishing with 24 goals, while Müller and Sabbi both tallied nine. In total, they combined for 53 goal contributions across all competitions in 2025, and they enter this week with 40 goal contributions on the year. On the assists front, Colombian right back Édier Ocampo leads the way with eight helpers, while Müller is closing in with six assists.
