WEEKLY STORYLINES
TAME THE TOROS: Vancouver Whitecaps FC will be eager to bounce back on Saturday with another key Western Conference clash on deck at BC Place. The 'Caps are set to do battle with FC Dallas, marking the second meeting of the season between the two sides as well as a rematch of the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs Round One, Best-of-3 series. Vancouver earned the victory in the first meeting of the season back on May 13 at Toyota Stadium, claiming a 3-2 away win thanks to a pair of strikes from Sebastian Berhalter and a Dallas own goal. Depending on other results across the league, a win on Saturday could vault the 'Caps back up to first in the West.
'CAPS ON TOP: Heading into Matchday 22 action, Vancouver leads the league in expected goals difference with a whopping 28.9, with Chicago Fire FC sitting in second with 8.4. The 'Caps also lead the league in expected goals (45.0) and tackles per match (19.8), while also sitting second in goal difference (+22), second best in goals conceded (18), second in big chances created (74), second in crosses per match (5.9), third in goals scored (40), and fourth in clean sheets (7). Yohei Takaoka is just one shutout away from 45 across all competitions, which would see him equal David Ousted’s record for the most clean sheets in the MLS era.
NUEVO CAFETERO: On Thursday, the 'Caps announced the addition of Colombian youth international Sebastián Ramírez. The 20-year-old prospect, who is capable of playing in multiple positions, arrives on loan from Colombian Categoría Primera A side Fortaleza CEIF on loan through June 2027, with the agreement including an option to purchase. Ramírez becomes the latest member of the young South American contigent at the 'Caps, joining 21-year-old Ecuadorian Bruno Caicedo, 23-year-old Peruvian Kenji Cabrera, and 22-year-old Colombian Édier Ocampo.
