SHUT DOWN STL: Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to continue their September homestand with an enticing Western Conference clash against St. Louis CITY SC this Saturday at BC Place. The 'Caps sit first in the West entering Matchday 24 action, nine points ahead of sixth-placed St. Louis, and have enjoyed plenty of success against the midwest side since CITY's expansion season in 2023. Across six meetings, the Blue and White hold the advantage with a 4W-1L-1D record in that span, including last season's come-from-behind 3-2 victory that saw Thomas Müller score his first 'Caps goal. St. Louis enters Saturday's affair on a 13-match unbeaten streak across all competitions (8W-0L-5D), their longest such run in their history.
SEPTEMBER TO REMEMBER: The busy September schedule is in full flow for the 'Caps. Following a 1-1 first leg draw in the TELUS Canadian Championship semifinals against CF Montréal, the Blue and White have six matches to look forward to this month. In MLS play, Vancouver will face three Western Conference opponents at BC Place, starting with St. Louis CITY SC on Saturday, followed by LA Galaxy next Wednesday and Austin FC the following Sunday, marking a stretch of three matches in nine days. The 'Caps will then head east to Montréal for the second leg of the CanChamp semifinal before travelling to face Real Salt Lake. Vancouver will close out the month at home against Eastern Conference side D.C. United.

STL have spent big money on Rafael Navarro and Carlo Holse.
They have big threats going forward, including our former striker Simon Becher who is on a tear at the moment.
We will need a disciplined defensive set up.
- Pressing from the front
STL over play at times, meaning our press from the front could be key.
It's a case of high pressure or drop the line slightly before we press.
Either way, it needs to be consistent.
- Quick movement
I'm not convinced about STL's defensive structure.
They have lots of players when defending but they are slow to react.
We need to take advantage by having quick movement ahead of the ball.
