VANCOUVER, BC – The 'Caps are back.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to begin their 2024 MLS regular season campaign this Saturday, March 2 as they take on Eastern Conference side Charlotte FC in their home opener, presented by TELUS. Kickoff from BC Place is set for 4:30 p.m. PT.

Saturday will mark the second all-time meeting between Whitecaps FC and Charlotte FC. It will be the first time the teams meet at BC Place.

WEEKLY STORYLINES

HOME SWEET HOME: Vancouver Whitecaps FC are back in action as they kick off their 2024 MLS regular season against Charlotte FC this Saturday, March 2 at BC Place. The match will mark the first time the 'Caps host the Eastern Conference side, with the previous meeting coming in May 2022 at Bank of America Stadium. Last Saturday, Charlotte opened their season with a 1-0 win over New York City FC. Last year, the 'Caps tallied a 10W-5L-8D home record across all competitions and scored 45 goals in the process. The club holds an all-time regular season record of 112W-53L-49D at BC Place.

FIFTY TOGETHER: For the first time, the team will wear The 50 Jersey on Saturday, as they get set to play the first of at least four matches with the upper bowl open at BC Place during their 50th anniversary season, presented by BMO, Chevrolet and MNP. Throughout the year, the club will host 10 celebration matches starting with Women & Girls in Soccer Celebration on March 30, Vaisakhi Celebration on April 6, and 50th Anniversary Match on May 4.

CAPTAIN GAULD: Last Friday night, Ryan Gauld was named the club's 25th captain at 2024 Season Launch Party. Since joining Vancouver mid-way through the 2021 season, Gauld has helped the ‘Caps win consecutive Canadian Championships and reach the MLS Cup Playoffs twice. Gauld is joined on the ’Caps leadership group by centre back Ranko Veselinović, forward Brian White, defensive midfielder Andrés Cubas, midfielder Sebastian Berhalter and forward Damir Kreilach.
