WEEKLY STORYLINES

VANCOUVER VIBIN': The vibes are high for Vancouver Whitecaps FC following a dominant pair of home wins last week. Midfielder Sebastian Berhalter continued his breakout season with two goals and an assist in Sunday’s victory over San Jose, earning MLS Player of the Matchday honours. Berhalter now has eight goals and 15 assists across all competitions in 2025. Thomas Müller also stayed hot, registering a goal and an assist to bring his tally to 10 goal contributions (six goals, four assists) in six games. Whitecaps FC are unbeaten in 10 straight matches in all competitions (6W-0L-4D) and have set a club MLS-era record with 17 regular-season wins. The 'Caps have also scored 91 goals across all competitions this year, matching the historic total set in 1988 when the club competed as the Vancouver 86ers in the old Canadian Soccer League.

TAME THE LIONS: The Blue and White will look to carry their fine form on the road this Saturday, October 11, as they take on Orlando City SC in a cross-conference clash, their final away match of the regular season. It will be the first meeting between the two sides since April 2019 and the sixth all-time, with the ‘Caps holding the edge with a 3W-1L-1D record. Beyond playoff implications, a win would also set a club record for the most regular season away victories in the ‘Caps’ MLS era. A win in Orlando would see Vancouver move into first place in the Western Conference, overtaking San Diego FC and putting them in control of their own destiny heading into a high-stakes Decision Day showdown with FC Dallas at BC Place on October 18.

INTERNATIONAL 'CAPS: With the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup etching ever closer, several Whitecaps FC players continue to be called up to their respective countries ahead of next summer's tournament.
