VANCOUVER, BC – Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielders Sebastian Berhalter and Thomas Müller have been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 38 following impressive performances in the 'Caps 4-1 win over San Jose Earthquakes at BC Place.
Whitecaps FC hit their second 10-match unbeaten streak of the season across all competitions, set a new club record for MLS wins in a season with 17, and tied their most MLS home wins with 10. The 'Caps are now 15W-0L-3D in MLS play when scoring the first goal, and 12W-0L-2D when leading at halftime.
Berhalter earns his fourth selection of the season (Matchday 4, Matchday 25, Matchday 33) with a statement performance. The MLS All-Star and United States international scored two stunning goals and added an assist in a dominant display.
Müller is named for the third time (Matchday 30, Matchday 33) in only four MLS starts. The German legend added another goal and assist, bringing his total to 10 goal contributions (6G, 4A) in his past five appearances across all competitions.
