VANCOUVER, BC – As many as nine Vancouver Whitecaps FC players are set to represent their countries during this month's FIFA international window. The 'Caps hold the second-most first team call-ups in MLS during this window, only one behind Eastern Conference side Atlanta United FC.

Ali Ahmed, Sam Adekugbe, Jayden Nelson - Canada

Ahmed, Adekubge, and Nelson are among Jesse Marsch's 23-man roster for the inaugural Canadian Shield Tournament set to take place at BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario.

The tournament, which will see Canada take on Ukraine and Côte D’Ivoire, will serve as preparation for the team ahead of this summer’s 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup, where they will face Honduras, El Salvador, and Curaçao in the group stage.

The trio have also been named to Canada's final Gold Cup roster, announced today by Canada Soccer.

Sebastian Berhalter, Brian White - United States

Berhalter and White have joined up with the U.S. men's national team for two friendly matches ahead of the Gold Cup against Turkey and Switzerland. In fact, U.S. Soccer today announced that the pair have been named to Mauricio Pochettino's final Gold Cup roster.

Berhalter will be looking to earn his first cap for his country, while White will aim to continue his strong start to the year for club and country.

Pedro Vite - Ecuador

Vite's form as one of the best young attackers in MLS has earned him another call-up to Ecuador's men's national team.

The 23-year-old will look to help his country punch their ticket to the World Cup this window. If Ecuador and Vite beat Brazil on Thursday, June 5 and Venezuela draw with Bolivia on Friday, June 6, Ecuador will qualify for the World Cup. If those results don't go their way, they'll still have a chance to qualify next Tuesday, June 10 with a win against Peru.

Andrés Cubas - Paraguay

Cubas is on the brink of helping Paraguay achieve history. The Albirroja, who have put together some impressive results during qualifying against Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia, can seal their spot in a World Cup for the first time in 15 years if they defeat both Uruguay on Thursday, June 5 and Brazil next Tuesday, June 10. If they beat Uruguay and Venezuela beat Bolivia, they will secure at the very least their spot in the World Cup playoff and could still qualify this window with a draw against Brazil, plus some help from other results.

As he has since joining the 'Caps in 2022, Cubas has been an instrumental piece in Paraguay's squad during qualifying.

Giuseppe Bovalina - Australia U-23

This window has seen Bovalina earn his second call-up to Australia's U-23 side.

The team will play two friendlies against South Korea's U-23 side.

Tate Johnson - United States U-20

It's a first-ever call-up at any U.S. age group level for Tate Johnson.

The 19-year-old has jetted off to Cairo, Egypt for a pair of friendlies against Egypt's U-20 side and Colombia's U-20 side. Johnson will be looking to make a claim for himself, with an eye towards being named to the final roster for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile later this year.
