WEEKLY STORYLINES

BACK TO MLS ACTION: Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to turn their focus towards MLS regular season action this week, with an eye on building their lead at the top of the Western Conference. The 'Caps, who have two games in hand on several teams around them, sit first in the West with 32 points, a league-high 2.13 points per game, as well as a league-best plus 15 goal differential. They also sit two points back of Eastern Conference side Philadelphia Union in the Supporters' Shield standings. In addition, the 'Caps are in the midst of a 10-match unbeaten streak in league play. A win or draw on Sunday against the Sounders would see them set a club-record unbeaten streak in MLS play.

CASCADIA CUP: Sunday's match will mark the first meeting of the season between the 'Caps and the Sounders, and it could be a crucial one in the Cascadia Cup standings - the annual three-way competition led by the supporters groups between the three historic clubs in the Pacific Northwest. The Blue and White currently lead the standings with three points, while Seattle and Portland sit tied with a point each. Both the 'Caps and the Sounders are on the hunt to claim a record-breaking eighth title, with Vancouver last winning the cup in 2023 and Seattle in 2021.

INTERNATIONAL 'CAPS: The Blue and White will need to count on their full squad and likely second team for Sunday's match, with nine players set to miss out due to international duty. The nine call-ups, which are the second-most in MLS behind Atlanta United FC, include Ali Ahmed, Sam Adekugbe, and Jayden Nelson with Canada, Sebastian Berhalter and Brian White with the United States, Andrés Cubas with Paraguay, Pedro Vite with Ecuador, Giuseppe Bovalina with Australia's U-23 side, and Tate Johnson with the United States' U-20 side.

BLUE AND WHITE ALL-STARS: Let's get 'em to the big game. The 2025 MLS All-Star game is set to take place in Austin, Texas on July 23, a match that will pit 26 of MLS' best against the LIGA MX All-Stars. Several 'Caps players have had impressive campaigns and can be voted into the squad by fan voting at mlssoccer.com/vote. 12 players are determined via voting (1/3 fans, 1/3 media, 1/3 MLS players), while another 12 players are chosen by Austin FC and MLS All-Star head coach Nico Estévez and the final two players are Commissioner's Picks by Don Garber. Voting closes on Wednesday, June 11 at 8:59 p.m. PT and can be done once per day.
