VANCOUVER, BC – Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC newcomer Yadaly Diaby has been named to MLS Team of the Matchday 27 after his performance in the club's 3-0 win at Real Salt Lake. The victory kept the 'Caps atop the Western Conference with nine matches remaining in the regular season.
Diaby, who joined the 'Caps on September 1, scored his first goal and recorded his first assist for Whitecaps FC. In the first half, he played a brilliant no-look pass to Thomas Müller to see the Blue and White go up 2-0. Then in the second half, he put the match away when he capitalized on a turnover and laced in a curling shot for the 3-0 goal. Diaby also led the team with three key passes. The Guinean international has been called up to his national team during the international break.
